David breaks protocol when he extends mercy to Mephibosheth. Jesus breaks protocol everywhere when speaking to the unworthy or touching the diseased. He demonstrates the incredible love, grace and mercy of God. We are called to act counter-cultural and break protocol in our lives.

Jesus-the One Who Saves. Christ- the Anointed One.

Anybody who puts their faith and trust in Jesus, gets their name in the Book of Life and lives forever.

God sees our mess, just as David saw Mephibosheth's mess and invites us to his table. He extends kindness and mercy. When we follow him, we will sit at his Royal table as Royal Sons and Daughters of the King.

To sin means to "miss the mark." We all miss the mark and live in the mess which results in guilt and shame. Guilt means "I did something wrong" and Shame means "there is something wrong with me". 

God knows we are not designed to carry guilt and shame and it will destroy us. Jesus is the answer. Through His crucification, he takes our mess and gives us his righteousness. He has the power to save us in an instant and transform our lives.

The gospel is simple because it is all about relationship and believing the three components. 1. Jesus Christ died on the cross, 2. He was buried, 3. He rose on the 3rd day. When you step into a relationship with Jesus, the old, broken, flawed, messy part of you has been nailed to the cross and buried. Through baptism, you have been raised to new life.

Live in the reality of the presence of God. He is with us, always. We are constantly running and chasing feelings, trying to find the next high, the next great experience. We only have to believe in Jesus in order to live in the reality of His presence. It is the joy of our lives that we have been given access to his table.

Jesus's first miracle was extravagant but only known to a few. His time to let other know of his Greatness was yet to come.

Whether comforting or unsettling, hometowns are significant to us. In Luke's Gospel, we hear the story of Jesus returning to his hometown of Nazareth and how he upsets the townspeople with his message. When we invite Jesus into our lives, his message can be both comforting or unsettling.

In the parable of the seed falling on different ground, we often try to define ourselves or others as one of the different types: the hard ground, the rocky ground, the thorny ground and the fertile ground. However, each of us has all the types within ourselves. 

In Luke 10, we hear the story of Mary and Martha. Mary violates social norms and hosting duties by sitting at Jesus's feet while Martha serves the guests alone. When confronted by Martha, Jesus sides with Mary. He teaches us the importance of sitting quietly to receive God's peace. Jesus settles our souls.
